Endowment Mortgage Claim-Am I being over charged? I hadn't a clue how to go about claiming for a mis-sold endowment policy, so I went with a "No win/no fee", company I saw advertised. I thought I'd been given to understand they took 50% of any compensation over what was needed to clear the shortfall. They took 3 yrs and some prompting to bring this to a conclusion, and now they are asking for 50% of the total compensation. Have I any redress?
How do you tackle sorting short fall on endowment policy? I had a go at the mortgage broker who sold me the low-cost endowment policy in 1986, in the first place, to no avail. What my next step without going to one of those claim companies? All suggestions are welcome, please.

endowment mortages help? hi people, well my question is this, ive got a mortage since 1976 and i had the option to take part in an endowments policy. i took out the endowments policy over a 20 year period from 1976 to 1996. i havent heard from them since 1996 and the letter i got from them was more or less a hello letter. the policy was for life assured if id pass away during the policy my mortage would be paid off by a lump sum. if after the 20 years term im entitle to a lump sum back. ive talked to my bank today (nationwide building society) they told me to call some numbers but they have no idea of where this company is from. on the endowwment policy there is only the name and address of the company and no number. just wondering if anybody here knows any details about this company. the company is call "GUARDIAN ROYAL EXCHANGE ASSSURANCE" the address given on the policy is "Ballam Road, Lytham, St.Annes, Lancashire, FY8 4JZ". anybody knows anything? please can anybody help? ive tried searching the net, phoning banks and still nothing, my last option is to go through some endowments claim company that does the "no win, no fee" but they take 25% off any money claimed. please help thanks.
Endowment Shortfall.when does the 3 year "time-barred" claim start at the red letter or after the3rd one I ask the question because i can not find the answer in booklets etc.
My endowment is at risk of shortfall. When i tried to claim they turned me down should i try again? They said they have all the documents signed to prove they discussed the risks with us.I cant remember much as it was ten years ago. Do we still have chance of a claim and if so should we get a company that specialises in claiming to try for us . I still have time
Miss sold endowment policy in the UK, typical problem from the 1980's? How many US parents do you think are claiming non legal child endowment payments on a lgbt child they abandon? Do you think any of these parents, who throw there lgbt child out on the street have told the IRS or the department of childrens services. That they have illegally abandoned there underage lgbt child, to stop these non legal payments of child endowment. They receive for an abandon underage child, no longer living under there roof or care. Child endowment payments paid to American families with children, cost all American taxpayers billions of dollars, of there tax dollars each year. As a taxpayer how do you feel about your hard earned tax dollars, being pocketed and spent non legally, by these persons, who abandon there lgbt child. When the US government has no funds to build homeless shelters for young lgbt Americans living on the streets in your country. Over 45% of homeless youth currently living on the streets of the USA are lgbt children thrown out of there homes due to there sexual orientation.
Endowment problems... how much can I get back? We were told we might not get the £24000 to pay off our mortgage at the end with our endowment, so we want to switch our mortgage to a repayment mortgage instead. I’ve asked the endowment company to send me a letter to let me know how much exactly we’ll get back if we cancel it this month. (Please read letter below) Surrender value With profits clusters £4999.38 Investment linked cluster £3719.91 TOTAL £8719.29 Claim value on death £24000 Loan Value £2620 (interest charged at rate of 8.5% p.a) Paid up value £7569.96 The values above assume the last premium paid to be that due on 17th August 2007. *I get so confuse with the figures, so what exactly am I going to get back? Thanks :)
Was my endowment Miss sold? After re arranging my morgage, I was looking at either selling or cashing in my endowment as it is not set to perform. I have learnt today that it is Unit Linked and nobody will buy this type? Is this a particulaly bad type if nobody would buy it? Was I miss sold and how do I go about making a claim?
If rights are conferred by governments, how could the Nazi government violate the rights of its prisoners? In the Nuremberg trials, Nazi war criminals were tried and condemned for imprisoning and murdering millions of Jews, Poles, gypsies, homosexuals and others in concentration camps from 1933 to 1945. However, imprisonment and murder to cleanse Europe of competing ethnic or religious groups were legal in Nazi Germany. In several questions I have asked about the source of human rights to life and liberty. Some who deny the existence and authority of God reject the claim in the Declaration of Independence that these rights are endowments by God and tell us that rights only come from government. This leaves us at a loss as to how we could have unalienable rights, i.e., rights that remain ours even when not secured by governments. If rights are the endowment of governments, wouldn't that imply that six million Jews did not suffer any violation of their rights when they were imprisoned and murdered in legally constituted Nazi death camps? Further, wouldn't that undermine the claims of the American revolutionaries that their rights were violated by Britain, since Britain was the legal government over the colonies?
is it worth claiming compensation for what i believe to be a missold endowment policy? we were told it was guarenteed to meet its target ( in 2024). after a letter back in 2003 warning us we would have a shortfall if we didnt up our monthly payments by £50 , we decided to switch to a repayment mortgage and surrendered the policy. has anybody had any joy with such a claim? im abit wary of the "no win,no fee" companies , and would just like a bit of advice. thanks.... thank you for your information, i think i will give it a go!!
Have any of you had a shortfall notice on an endowment policy that was intended to repay your mortgage? In light of the recent bailing out of the banks and the claims fiasco of MP's do you agree that the banks/building societies should cover the shortfall on these policies. At the end of the day we, the voter and bank customer are being ripped off from every direction and it is due to the mismanagement of the financial institutions that we are in this mess. If anyone feels strongly about this pleas go to 10 Downing Street web site and sign this petition http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Bankstorepayus/ http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Banksto... Mr Sheepy: You are dead right and that is why they should pick up the tab. It has cost everyone in the country a lot of money to bail these shysters out so I feel that it is only right to help those who have been fleeced. Cheers
Mormons: In the search for truth, are these claims true or false? 1. Joseph Smith killed two people right before his 'martyrdom' 2. Blood Atonement was once taught as official doctrine by prophets of the LDS Church but was later abandoned 3. Death Penalty oaths were required of Temple Patrons previous to 1990 wherein they agreed to have the Lord inflict violent deaths upon them if they revealed the nature of the endowment (out of respect, let's not explicitly describe these; even though they are abandoned, they are still considered sacred to the LDS faith) 4. Four men secretly buried a set of fabricated plates in Kinderhook, IA and presented them to Joseph Smith as authentic. He then proceeded to 'translate' them, and after he was halfway done, the four pranksters told everyone and several families left the Church because of it 5. The Book of Abraham papyri have been found and translated, and allegedly date to 2000 years later than Abraham, and contain nothing about Abraham Yes, he did have weapons (well, "a weapon"). One of the apostles smuggled a gun in to him, and he used it and fired it down into the stairwell: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Joseph_Smith%2C_Jr. LuvRock: all information that I have presented can be found in your History of the Church or else in the Journal of Discourses. The Kinderhook plates account in HC is a little sketchy, but many eyewitnesses wrote about it in their journals, so that helps piece the think together. Here are a few links with much of this information, with documented sources: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Joseph_Smith%2C_Jr. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kinderhook_Plates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Book_of_abraham#Loss_and_rediscovery_of_the_papyrus http://www.lds-mormon.com/
How do I get a life insurance policy in the UK that pays me a bonus at the end of the term if I don't claim? I want a new joint life insurance policy as we're moving home, but instead of the usual life and critical illness (the latter part of which I'm told rarely pays out anyway), I'd like a life insurance policy that will pay me on maturity, i.e. at the end of the term. My inlaws are forever getting sums of money for insurance policies they took out years ago, but I can't find out where to get one. I need at least £100,000 of life insurance for at least 20 years as it has to cover my mortgage if one of us dies. Am I looking for an endowment policy? How do I get one without finding a financial advisor?
Pat Buchanan's new book claims that only english speaking people of "european descent"? should be legally allowed to migrate in the US. QUOTE : "The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people, nor is there any reason to believe that the civilization can be successfully transmitted by a different people." Is anyone else appalled by this or is what America has come down to? I mean I understand the problem illegal immigration is causing but isn't this just a taaaaaad racist? I mean this guy was a presidential candidate!! Pancakes, I'm not as misinformed as you think. I know it was a quote from Sam Francis but Buchanan puts it in his book as what is right and what we should believe, And thanx for the first few responders who did say that he wasn't speaking for the average american.
Was Jefferson right in claiming that our equality, liberty, and natural rights depend on the Creator? Jefferson grounded our claims of equality, liberty, and the right to life in the endowment of the Creator, following the Judeo-Christian claim that the Creator made man in his image and provides a special status to us among his creatures. However, atheists deny the existence of the Creator while still affirming claims of equality, liberty, and natural rights. Could there be some other objective basis for our rights, or are the atheists just whistling in the dark?
How did the Mormon Holy Ghost become a god without obtaining a mortal body? I thought that God was "the same yesterday, today and forever", but in the Mormon religion it seems that the Holy Ghost received an "Advance to Godhead" card without all the hassle of a mortal experience. How can Mormons claim that a requirement for Godhead is a mortal body and experience - including the need for Baptism, Gift of the Holy Ghost, the Priesthood for men, temple endowments and celestial marriage - when a member of the Mormon Godhead did not need to follow these steps?
what chapter is this quote from Jane Eyre from? "God and nature intended you for a missionary's wife. It is not personal, but mental endowments they have given you: you are formed for labour, not for love. A missionary's wife you must — shall be. You shall be mine: I claim you — not for my pleasure, but for my Sovereign's service." ----I have the version with 385 pages and 34 chapters. I just need the chapter, and if possible, the page. Thanks
Has any body claimed for a shortfall on anendowment sold by independent financial adviser, if so, how? cheers. I have been told that because i did not buy the plan from the endowment co rep direct i may not have a claim. The plan is with the prudential formally Scottish Amicable.
Atheists, what is your basis for claiming human equality, freedom, and natural rights? Jefferson and the founders grounded their claims for equality, freedom, and natural rights in the "self-evidence" that these are endowments of the Creator. If we are rather accidental mutations of some apelike ancestor, on what basis can we claim equality, freedom, and natural rights? Don't these claims become the empty wishes of talking animals?
Will my pension pay my mortgage? I have a mortgage with 13 years left to run. When I took out the mortgage, I was sold a pension and an endowment policy with a 50/50 split. I have already successfully claimed compensation for mis-selling re. the endowment part and am pursuing the pension side. Before I consider converting the whole lot or just half to a repayment mortgage, is it true that I will not be able to claim the lump sum to pay off my mortgage when the term ends, as I will only be 50 years old? Has the age changed to 55 for being able to use the lump sum payment? This is driving me crazy! Thanks for your responses so far, I would just like to add that the pension was taken out solely with the intention of repaying 50% of the mortgage, it isn't my main pension for retirement.

A Little Friday Humor......stars if you like!!!? There’s this guy, Bruce, who has, in his opinion, a very large unit. He claims it measures in excess of 12”. He is quite proud of his endowment and is constantly bragging to his friends about his more than average package. One day Bruce begins to wonder if there are any other guys out there like him. As a matter of fact, he knows that if a club were to exist for people like him, he would undoubtedly be elected president due to his impressive stature. So Bruce begins a search and, sure enough, there is already a club for this special breed of men. He gives them a call to find out the date of their next meeting and is invited to attend. Needless to say, Bruce is very excited. He knows that when they all get a look at him, he will instantly become the commander in chief of this club. The day finally comes and Bruce heads downtown to the meeting location. He finds the address and asks the doorman if this is the place for the big **** club meeting. The doorman says yes and Bruce, in his excitement, tells the doorman about his package and how he knows he will be elected president of the club. The doorman laughs and gives Bruce an incredulous look and says “Do you see that lump in my sock?....and I’m only the doorman!”
Atheists, what is the evidence for unalienable rights? America's founders accounted for natural rights as endowments of the Creator, grounding the claim that our rights are unalienable on the "self-evident" truth of the reality of God. But in the atheist theory, man is simply a species of animal that happened to appear in a cosmic accident. Without a Creator, why should individual humans have unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, any more wolves, rattlesnakes, or trees? Skalite, did you get to be a "top contributor" by avoiding the question? Chris, most civilized societies don't recognize individual rights. Those that do, like the USA, have reason to believe in rights because they recognize the Creator ("In God we trust"). Windom, isn't Peter Singer the "ethicist" who thinks animals and people are equal? In other words, he rejects human rights. Adam, you think rights are simply an expression of power? The Founders didn't deny rights to atheists because they understand that God endows unalienable rights to all people. Eleventy, "any being" includes trees, right? Whether recognizing rights is a necessity is doubtful; it probably hobbles a society by outlawing workable solutions to problems. Robin, if people created our rights, people can take them away. That means they aren't really unalienable.
When President Elect Obama promised to go "Line by Line" to eliminate earmarks, what did he mean? I want you to know that some of these are OK with me. This is the first Budget signed by our new President, below is a list of a few of the 9,000 plus earmarks... $200 million to refurbish the National Mall (including $21 million for new sod), $50 million for the National Endowment of the Arts, $650 million in coupons to help people switch from analog to digital televisions, $2.4 billion for “carbon capture” demonstration projects, $4.19 billion for ACORN and other “Community Stabilization Activities” groups (even though ACORN is the subject of a RICO corruption lawsuit), $400 million for “global warming” research, $335 million for sexually transmitted disease education, $2.1 billion for Head Start, $2 billion for day care programs, $500 million to speed up the processing of Social Security Disability claims, $150 million for “livestock insurance,” $6 billion for colleges and universities, $13 billion in Title I grants for academic support, $13 billion for special education grants to states, $20 billion for food stamps, $1.7 billion to help the homeless, $1 billion to pay heating bills for poor people, $200 million for senior nutrition programs, $200 million for Americorps, $300 million for “green” golf carts, $30 million for “smart” appliances, $5 billion for public housing, $87 billion in Medicaid funds for the states, $2.5 billion for the National Science Foundation, $2 billion for the National Park Service, $2 billion for “neighborhood stabilization programs,” $650 million for the National Forest Service, $600 million for NASA, $600 million for new cars for the government, $75 million for programs to help people quit smoking, $800 million for Amtrak (which hasn’t earned a profit in four decades), $150 million for maintenance at the Smithsonian Institution, $79 billion to help pay down state debt from reckless spending (in California, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts), $17 billion for Pell Grants, $400 million for “habitat restoration projects,” $726 million for an after-school snack program, $2.25 billion for national parks (essentially doubling the park service’s budget), and $30 million to save the habitat of the “salt marsh harvest mouse” (which lives in the area of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi). So, what did President Obama mean? Fred K - Just a note: Dem Congress and House did not pass the budget, waiting for Obama to get in office. President Bush never saw the final product, you cannot sign what never crosses your desk! They knew Obama would just sign it.

In respose to "Is Islam the fastest growing religion..."? Guys, I hate to break it to you, but it is. "According to the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, the World Christian Database as of 2007 estimated the six fastest growing religions of the world to be Islam (1.84%), the Bahá'í Faith (1.7%), Sikhism (1.62%), Jainism (1.57%), Hinduism (1.52%), and Christianity (1.32%). High birth rates were cited as the reason for the growth.[13]." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claims_to_be_the_fastest_growing_religion Now I'm an atheist, but 4 people thumbed down when I stated that Islam was the fastest growing religion for some reason. I just wanted to clear this up. Anyway... question... question... Hmm. What do you think of Quetzalcoatl? Great god or greatest god? Oh, this was in reference to an earlier question. Actually, LabGrrl, you are probably too quick to judge because the Wikipedia article, like any encyclopedia should, cites its source too. Notice that [13] next to the statistic? It's not just for show, you know. Check the footnote on the page before you start pointing fingers.
Endowments: It's wrong to assume they pay planned value at maturity isn't it ? I've tried companies who tell me there is no basis for compensation and the sellers won't play ball. What options do I have ? Companies are Alba Life (formerly LAS) and Abbey Life started 1986 & 1995 repsectively - I've now sold the Abbey out of frustration as relevant company and 3rd parties say i have no basis for a claim !
has any one? claimed money back for being mis sold an endowment mortgage,if so what company did you use and how long did the process take.
Do you see any problem with 0bama’s Buffy Wicks? (Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement [)( Valerie Jarrett, Senior Advisor and Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Affairs and Public Engagement, Christina M. Tchen Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Michael Strautmanis, Chief of Staff to the Assistant to the President for Intergovernmental Relations and Public Engagement, Brian Bond, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, Buffy Wicks Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement]) is engaging taxpayer-funded NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) for pro 0bama art to push his agenda? EXPLOSIVE NEW AUDIO Reveals White House Using NEA to Push Partisan Agenda by Patrick Courrielche **NEA conference call full audio and transcript here** Should the National Endowment for the Arts encourage artists to create art on issues being vehemently debated nationally? That is the question that I set out to discuss a little over three weeks ago when I wrote an article on Big Hollywood entitled The National Endowment for the Art of Persuasion?” The question still requires debate but the facts do not. The NEA and the White House did encourage a handpicked, pro-Obama arts group to address politically controversial issues under contentious national debate. That fact is irrefutable. President Obama with the NEA’s Yosi Sergant But some have claimed that the invite and passages, pulled from the conference call that inspired the article, were taken out of context. Context is what I intend to establish here. On August 10th, the National Endowment for the Arts, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and the Corporation for National and Community Service hosted a conference call with a handpicked arts group. This arts group played a key role in Obama’s arts effort during his election campaign, as declared by the organizers of the call, and many on the call played a role in the now famous Obama Hope poster. Much of the talk on the conference call was a build up to what the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) was specifically asking of this group. In the following segment, Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, clearly identifies this arts group as a pro-Obama collective and warns them of some “specific asks” that will be delivered later in the meeting. Buffy Wicks Play Buffy Wicks, Deputy Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement: • “I just first of all want to thank everyone for being on the call and just a deep deep appreciation for all the work you all put into the campaign for the 2+ years we all worked together.” •“We won.” •“I’m actually in the White House and working towards furthering this agenda, this very aggressive agenda.” •“We’re going to come at you with some specific asks here.” •“I hope you guys are ready.” Later in the call, “specific asks” were delivered by Yosi Sergant, then Communications Director of the National Endowment for the Arts. What were the “asks”? They were for this pro-Obama arts group to create art on several hotly debated political issues, including health care: Yosi Sergant Play Yosi Sergant, former Communications Director of the National Endowment for the Arts: • “I would encourage you to pick something, whether it’s health care, education, the environment, you know, there’s four key areas that the corporation has identified as the areas of service.” •“And then my ask would be to apply artistic, you know, your artistic creative communities utilities and bring them to the table.” •“Again, I’m really, really honored to be working with you; the National Endowment for the Arts is really honored.” •“You’re going to see a lot more of us in the next four and hopefully eight years.” As someone that has been creating arts initiatives and marketing campaigns for over 14 years, I feel like I have a good sense as to how a pro-Obama arts group, when requested by the NEA to address politically contentious issues, could so easily turn very partisan. Consider: Three days after the conference call a coalition of arts groups, led by Americans for the Arts, a participant on the conference call per the meeting contact list and recipient of NEA grants, sent out a press release with the heading “Urgent Call to Congress for Healthcare Reform,” which called for the creation of “a health care reform bill that will create a public health insurance option.” Eleven days after the conference call, Rock the Vote, another participant on the call, announced a health care design contest. “We can’t stand by and listen to lies and deceit coming from those who are against reforming a broken system,” they stated in their announcement. “Enough is Enough. We need designs that tell the country YES WE CARE! Young people demand health care.” These may both be coincidences and I am not suggesting that the NEA or these groups definitiv
How Come Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart Keep Scooping the New York Times? •BEST OF THE WEB TODAY •SEPTEMBER 14, 2009 'Call Fox' - How Come Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart Keep Scooping the New York Times? By JAMES TARANTO Last week we noted that Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had acknowledged her paper was "a beat behind" on the story of Van Jones, the Obama administration's so-called green-jobs czar, who among other things once signed a 9/11 "truther" conspiracy petition. Times readers did not learn about Jones until he had already become the Obama administration's former so-called green-jobs czar. Abramson pointed out that long before the Times reported the story, "it had been discussed on talk radio, Fox News and other venues." Our conclusion: "If you want to get the news ahead of the Times, watch Fox News Channel." On Friday, Fox delivered on Abramson's promise by scooping the Times again. Early that evening, the network sent an email alert: "Census Bureau severs all ties with ACORN after hidden-camera videos expose 4 of group's workers advising 'pimp,' 'prostitute' on subverting the law." (Here's the full story.) The Obama administration had invited Acorn (the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) to "partner" with the bureau as "advocates for census cooperation and participation," as the bureau described it in its Dear John letter. Readers of Saturday's Times got only a short (225-word) report from the Associated Press, which began: "The Census Bureau on Friday severed its ties with Acorn, a community organization that Republicans have accused of voter-registration fraud." It made no mention of the hidden-camera sting--although that was because of the Times's editing. The original AP dispatch, filed contemporaneously with the Fox alert, was twice as long. Among the material the Times cut was this: ACORN fired two employees who were seen on hidden-camera video giving tax advice to a man posing as a pimp and a woman who pretended to be a prostitute. Fox News Channel broadcast excerpts from the video on Thursday. On the video, a man and woman visiting ACORN's Baltimore office asked about buying a house and how to account on tax forms for the woman's income. An ACORN employee advised the woman to list her occupation as "performance artist." Those two employees had worked in Baltimore (the other two were in Washington), and a story in Friday's Baltimore Sun reported that the investigators purportedly planned to traffic in child sex slaves: The video depicts a man and a scantily dressed female partner visiting the Charles Village office of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, where they appear to ask two employees about how to shield their work from state and federal tax requirements. The supposed pimp also appears to ask the employees how to conceal underage girls from El Salvador brought into the country illegally to work for him. "If they don't have Social Security numbers, you don't have to worry about them," the employee says. The Sun noted that the exposé, by 20-year-old Hannah Giles and 25-year-old James O'Keefe, was published on BigGovernment.com, a conservative Web site run by Andrew Breitbart, before being aired on Glenn Beck's Fox program. It was a busy week for Beck and Breitbart. On Friday they claimed another victory when, as FoxNews.com reported, the National Endowment for the Arts announced that it was "reassigning" Yosi Sergant, its communications director. On his Sept. 1 program, Beck had aired portions of a tape from an August conference call with artists, in which Sergant exhorted them to push the administration's agenda. The call was first reported on Big Hollywood, another Breitbart site, by a participant, Patrick Courrielche, who provided Beck the tape on which Sergant said this: I would encourage you to pick something, whether it's health care, education, the environment. There's four key areas that the corporation has identified as the areas of service. Then my task would be to apply your artistic, creativity community's utilities and bring them to the table. Sergant also told the artists: "We are just now learning how to really bring this community together to speak with the government, what that looks like legally. . . . We are participating in history as it's being made. So bear with us as we learn the language so that we can speak to each other safely and we can really work together [to] move the needle and to get stuff done." Here is a reprint in full of the Times's coverage of the Sergant story: . It's difficult to imagine that a Republican administration could employ an exponent of a crackpot conspiracy theory, "partner" with an apparently corrupt organization, or attempt to politicize an agency like the NEA without the mainstream media treating it as a major scandal. But with Obama in the White House? A quote attributed to the fired Washington Acorn employees sums things up nicely. The AP reported that they had advised Giles and O'Keef
Alger Hiss Trial? The Alger Hiss trials were a result of the “Red Scare.” This is also known by people as the fear of communism within the United States. During this period of time people were more concerned about themselves and afraid of everything that they do not know or do not understand. Because they do not know what communism is and because they are being told that it is a very horrible thing to participate in they do not want to have anything to do with communism and are afraid of whomever is a participate. This is a story of a man whom wanted to support the way he thought because he wanted to make the world a better place, and when he did eventually decide that communism wasn’t what he wanted to pursue then people agitated him and made him become prosecuted for letting go what he once found so important to hold onto. He let it go and we blamed him, when he could have held on to his beliefs. Its not right to put someone on trial because of what they decided to let go. When someone gives up their rights from another country to join America and to become an American citizen we don’t prosecute them for what they were before. That was their past countries problem. We shouldn’t be allowed to place blame onto people who have decided to change from bad to good because they will more than likely decide that because they are being blamed then they won’t change. The man by the name of Alger Hiss arrived in the United States and shortly after on August 3, 1948 A reporter walked up to him and told Hiss that Whittaker Chambers was accusing him of being a communist. Alger Hiss was the president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Whittaker Chambers was the senior editor of Times magazine. However Hiss did admit to his fifteen years of being a communist he said he stopped believing in 1937. Then he told the Secretary of The State, Adolph A. Berle Jr. that there were communists in the United States government. Hiss once being a State department official organized several high level diplomatic meetings that helped to form the United Nations. Does this sound like the type of guy that wants to harm America and its people? No it doesn’t a person who doesn’t like America wouldn’t help make the United Nations. When Chambers essentially told on Hiss saying he was a communist he said that he himself was a communist and he gave it up and that Hiss had not. When the man by the name of Chambers told this Hiss said that no man by the name of Chambers meant anything to him. He did not know anyone by the name of Chambers. However Hiss did say that the man who claimed to be Whittaker Chambers did look familiar to him but as a man he once knew by the name of George Crosley. He then asked the man to open his mouth because the man by the name of Crosley had horrible teeth and that’s how he remembered him. Before the trial Hiss’ attorney asked Chambers if he could supply any evidence that Hiss was a communist and he went to his nephews house in Brooklyn New York and brought an envelope that contained forty-three typed copies of State document reports , five rolls of microfilm, and four memos in Hiss’ handwriting.
Mormons, why all the secrecy in rituals of your faith? The Book of Mormon repeatedly condemns "secret combinations," "secret works" and the taking of "oaths." (Mormon 8:27, 40, 2 Nephi 26:22, Hel 6:22, and many others.) Most non-Mormons who have studied the origin of the Book of Mormon have concluded that these passages reflect the strong anti-Masonic sentiments common in New York in the 1820s. The Mormons claim that the secret temple ceremonies have been taught to the faithful in all dispensations, and were known to the first Christians. However, Jesus insisted, "...in secret have I said nothing." (John 18:20; see also Matt 10:26, Mark 4:22, Luke 8:17, 12:2) God is not "in the secret chambers" (Matt 24:26). But Mormon temples bear the inscription inside the main door "The Lord is in his holy temple - let all the earth keep silence before him" (Habakkuk 2:20). The endowment ceremony (especially in its earlier versions) contains many details that are similar to the Masonic initiation rites of Joseph Smith's day. The symbols, oaths, handclasps, and terminology resemble the Masonic ritual in hundreds of ways. Smith's introduction of the endowment ceremony came two months after he had been initiated into Freemasonry. I'm only asking after watching this on ABC News: http://gmy.news.yahoo.com/ If people don't understand Mormonism, and Mormons are not willing to explain and not wanting people to be told things without proper context, then why not explain the content? I'm not bashing either. I'm just asking. Many people are judgemental of other religions and faiths.......I'm just asking for an answer Idon't want to be ignorant of Mormonism. Shock the world! Your answer proves that Mormons are not willing to explain. Sacred is Holiness, or sanctity. The Hebrew word for "holiness," "kedushah" has the connotation of "separateness." That which is holy in Judaism is set apart, and the separation is maintained by both legal and spiritual measures. Catholicism has adopted much of the Jewish vision of the world in terms of holiness, with certain behaviour appropriate to certain places and times. The calendar gives shape to Catholic practice, which tends to focus on the Eucharist, in which the Real Presence of Christ is manifested. Many features of the Jewish temple are imitated in churches, such as the altar, bread, lamp, incense, font, etc, to emphasise the extreme holiness of the Eucharistic elements, which are reserved in a tabernacle. In extension of this focus on the Sacrament as holy, many objects in Catholicism are also considered holy. They are called sacramentals and are usually blessed by a priest. In Protestantism holiness is an attribute of God, and holiness is always part of the presence of God. Yet they also recognized that practical holiness was the evidence of the presence of God in the converted believer. Martin Luther, viewed God's grace (and therefore God's holiness), as an invasion of the life.

Is the splc really out to help illegal aliens or to line their pockets? SPLC loses $50 Million. Bad news: $PLC can afford it Patrick Cleburne, VDARE.COM (April 8, 2009) Those of us who know and love the Southern Poverty Law Center [SPLC, or more appropriately, in VDARE.com's considered opinion, the $PLC] have been naturally intrigued to see if this wealthy operation would be a victim of Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme... Immigration patriots are particularly interested in the $PLC [SPLC] because of its recent obsessive smearing of essentially every immigration reform group in sight. This includes naming as a "hate group" not merely VDARE.COM (which has responded by naming the $PLC a "Treason Group") but also the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) which the $PLC has absurdly claimed is "at the nexus of the American nativist movement" along with FAIR's equally harmless fellow Beltway herbivores, NumbersUSA and the Center For Immigration Studies. This new $PLC obsession is obviously odd because the huge post-1965 influx of unskilled legal and illegal immigrants, whatever else can be said about it, has been an unmitigated disaster for low income blacks-allegedly the $PLC's historic concern. Labor leader Cesar Chavez (ironically an $PLC hero) saw this dynamic clearly in the case of his farm workers, at that time largely native-born Hispanics. It's why the Howard Industries blacks cheered last year's ICE raid on their employer. Complaints, even from the Left, about the $PLC's [Southern Poverty Law Center] lack of interest in black and "Civil Rights" issues, and its extreme interest in money, date back at least to Ken Silverstein's classic The Church of Morris Dees (Harper's Magazine, November 2000) and JoAnn Wypijewski's ferocious defense of her criticism of the $PLC for ignoring local Black causes in her Nation magazine article Back to the back of the Bus (December 2000). The $PLC's Form 990 (PDF), which tax-exempt charities must file the IRS, and its Audited Financial Statements (PDF) are now available for the fiscal year ending October 2008. And the answer to the Madoff matter-no such luck. Our friends apparently escaped unscathed. But how did the $PLC manage to resist the allure of the so-called "Jewish T-Bill"-an operation which claimed to produce relatively moderate but extremely consistent returns over many years? Would that not be attractive to the $PLC as a prudent 501(c)(3) Charity-as it was tragically to so many others, and to so many Jewish retirees as well? .Of course, this investment objective did cause the $PLC to sustain $51.2 million in "Investment" losses in the Fiscal year closing 10-31-08. But this left the $PLC with some $167.8 million in total portfolio assets at the end of the year. And the implied approximately 30.5% FY 2008 loss is actually not exceptional. The S&P 500 lost 37.5% over the same period. (Of course, this makes the questionable assumption that it was prudent for the $PLC to be so exposed to stocks, rather than less volatile financial instruments like bonds or money market instruments). Essentially, the $PLC balance sheet looks similar to what one would imagine for a retired Goldman Sachs partner: property and working capital, plus a huge sophisticated investment portfolio. As of 10-31-08, the $PLC showed $35.6 Million (18.5% of its assets) in a kind of current account, called the "operating fund", which contains, curiously, all the physical assets including $16.9 million in depreciated real estate (to be fair- apparently no yacht!) This "operating fund" includes an investment pool of $11.6 million, on which losses of $1.2 million were sustained in FY '08. Presumably this is the management's dabbling/fun account. The balance consists of an investment portfolio, which stood at $156.2 million at 10-31 08. This is termed the "Endowment Fund". It is important to understand that, according to the $PLC's own Financial Statements, there are essentially no restrictions on this fund. In the Charity world, this is not what is commonly understood by an "endowment", which is usually dedicated to specific purposes, and often confined to spending income only. As Daniel Borochoff, President of the American Institute of Philanthropy, told Bill O'Reilly in 2001: "They want to build up their reserves just like you'd probably like to be a multimillionaire so you could live off the interest... It's not really an endowment [just] because the board called it that." (See NPI/SPLC Report II, Pp17-18) Proof of Borochoff's view of the $PLC strategy arose in 2008. Endowments are usually tapped in poor years, for operating expenses. But the $PLC transferred $4 million from its "Operating Fund" to its "Endowment Fund" last year-a clear demonstration of the management's Scrooge-like priorities. It is when one examines the details of this "Endowment Fund" that the $PLC's heroic dedication to money-making becomes glaring. P14 of the Financial Statements reveals that of the $156.2 million: $20.7Million (13.3%) was in "
Is this a scam once again? DATE: April 8th, 2010 FROM: Rev. Fr. Richard Cross, Hampshire, England Dearly Beloved Greetings & blessings from Hampshire! I write to you by email, due to the return of my earlier letter to you by post. On behalf of the Trustees and Executors of the estate of late Sir John Marks Templeton, I wish to notify you by this mail that late Sir Templeton, made you a beneficiary to his (will). Sir John Marks Templeton, left the sum of Seven Hundred and Fifty Thousand United States Dollars (US$750,000.00) to you as Bequest. The Late Sir John Marks Templeton, an investor and mutual fund pioneer who dedicated much of his fortune to promoting religion and reconciling it with Science, Sir Templeton died Tuesday July 8, 2008 from pneumonia at Doctors Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas. He was 95. The late Sir John Marks Templeton until his death was a great Philanthropist and humanitarian, Sir Templeton created the $1.4 million Templeton Prize - billed as the world's richest annual prize - to honor advancement in knowledge of spiritual matters. Winners have included Mother Teresa, Billy Graham and Soviet dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. Sir Templeton wanted the monetary value to surpass that of the Nobel Prize to show that advances in spiritual fields were just as important, Sir Templeton was influenced by the Unity School of Christianity, which takes a non-literal view of heaven and hell, and he often started his mutual fund's annual meetings with a prayer. The philanthropist was also a dedicated Christian and a board member of the Princeton Theological Seminary. In 1987, he established the John Templeton Foundation to fund projects that could reconcile religion and science. The Pennsylvania-based nonprofit has an estimated endowment of $1.5 billion and awards some $70 million in annual grants. He believed that prayer was the key to success. It was, he argued, not a plea for success but a way of calming the mind. "If you begin with prayer, you will think more clearly and make fewer mistakes."In an attempt to reconcile apparent conflicts between his capitalist and Christian beliefs, late Sir John Templeton argued that business had similarities with religious aims, which he claimed "enriches the poor more than any other system humanity has had".Steadfastly Christian, he drew on other religious traditions. "I grew up as a Presbyterian. Presbyterians thought the Methodists were wrong. Catholics thought all Protestants were wrong. The Jews thought the Christians were wrong. So what I am financing is humility. I want people to realize you shouldn't think you know it all." According to him this is to support your humanitarian/religious activities. Why did Joseph Smith copy from the Masonic Lodge in constructing the Mormon religion? Was Joseph Smith a Mason? Right in the official HISTORY OF THE CHURCH vol.4, p.551-552, Joseph Smith writes that "In the evening I received the first degree in Free Masonry in the Nauvoo Lodge..."(March 15, 1842) and on the next page he writes that "Wednesday, March 16—I was in the Masonic lodge and rose to the sublime degree.[Master Mason]" Now, Freemasonry is very truly a religion. Why did Joseph Smith join a competing religion to the LDS church when he was the prophet of the church? Especially when Joseph claimed that "I was commanded to join none of them [religions], for they were all wrong; and the Personage that addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness but they deny the power thereof."1 That means by joining the Masonic lodge, Smith broke God’s commandments! This is not even to address the issue of the many exact resemblances between the temple endowment rite (which came after his Masonic initiation2) and Masonic ritual.3 1 Pearl of Great Price, Joseph Smith-History 1:19. 2 HISTORY OF THE CHURCH vol.5, pp.1-2 3 William Schnoebelen & James R. Spencer, MORMONISM’S TEMPLE OF DOOM, Triple J, 1987, p.36-43. The entire LDS Temple ritual is wrapped around the three degrees of Blue Lodge Masonry. The Oaths, the tokens, the secret handgrips, and the penalties are exactly from Masonic ritual. The five points of fellowship at the sacred veil are word for word Masonic and the all seeing eye on the outer door are Masonic. One last thing.. the apron worn by Lucifer in the Garden of Eden scene is a Masonic, Past worshipful Master's apron and he brags to to Adam that it represents the power of his[Satan's] priesthoods. When going though the holy veil at the end of the ceremony, the mormon must stick his arms trough the same markings that are on Lucifer's apron and swear obedience to that same power of the priesthoods.. further, These are the same markings sewn into the holy. sacred underwear that the Temple Mormon must always wear. This is right out of the pit of hell..
Is this the "hope" and "change" Americans have been waiting for? Last year, President Obama campaigned against budget deficits. Yet, now we have the newly announced figures from the Obama administration stating that the deficits numbers over the next decade will add up to over $9 trillion-- $2 trillion more than had been forecast as recently as March. Even this likely underestimates the deficit by at least another $1 trillion. Looking back, it is hard to believe that the deficits during the Bush administration totaled only about $3 trillion over eight years. Less than a year in office, Obama has nearly QUADRUPLED the national debt. Candidate Obama promised to rein in the budget deficit. When CBS's Bob Schieffer asked Obama, during the third presidential debate, what he was going to do about the deficit, he promised to cut it: "But there is no doubt that we've been living beyond our means and we're going to have to make some adjustments. Now, what I've done throughout this campaign is to propose a net spending cut." When Larry Summers, Obama's chief economic advisor, was asked about the Bush deficits last fall, he warned they would "reduce investments and slow growth, compromise financial stability, and increase America's vulnerability and reduce its influence in the world." Summers' claim back then was that higher deficits will drive up interest rates and discourage investments. But higher deficits actually do not drive up interest rates by any noticeable amount. And the reason is simple. A trillion plus dollar deficit might be large relative to the $14 trillion United States economy but it is small relative to the world economy. We live in a world capital market, and if interest rates started to rise in the United States, capital would flood in from every place else. While different inflationary expectations, risk of default, and tax rates can make the "nominal" interest rates somewhat different across countries, investment capital flows easily across national boundaries. So this should not be the main worry. But there is indeed a problem from these deficits. Ten trillion dollars simply is a lot of money. Whether it is an individual going into debt or a country, spending the money now means that we have less to spend on other things. In the case of ten trillion dollars of national debt, it comes to over $33,000 per man, woman, and child. The $130,000 is the amount of taxes that a family is going to have to pay back, somehow, and people have to ask what their family could have gotten for that much money. Is the benefit they get from the government spending all this money greater than what they could have gotten if they had spent that money themselves? We have all heard about the various nutty items, such as $221,000 in stimulus money spent on studying "barriers to correct condom use" at Indiana University, the $219,000 spent studying "hookups" among adolescents at Syracuse University, or the National Endowment for the Arts funding performances such as "Perverts Put Out!" But the really crazy projects are seldom the big ticket items. There are very many half-way reasonable projects that just would not cut it according to normal investment criteria. Take the $11 million to build a bridge connecting two adjacent portions of Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond, Washington. If Microsoft, with its vast financial resources, had figured that the bridge was worth $11 million dollars, wouldn't they already have been planning to build it themselves, without any stimulus money? Since they didn't do it themselves, all we really know is that they valued the bridge at less than $11 million. In other words, taxpayers spent $11 million and turned it into something less valuable. The bottom line here is this: the biggest problem with the dramatic increase in deficits is the large increase in government spending that is causing them. In May, Obama admitted that "we are out of money now." Since then his own budget deficit estimates have increased by $2 trillion. Blessed by being me - It is a question. Is that an "answer" you're giving? Love Canada - I agree he has been given a crappy hand. I do NOT agree he's dealing with it the best anyone can. In fact if you've read my details, he's adding fuel to the proverbial fire. Noticing there isn't a single critical agrument from anyone still niave enough to be an Obama supporter. Everything I have stated about Obama, what he has saidand done, and the figures I've provided are verifiable FACTS. I simply ask is this what Americans want? If you can't make a sound and relevant statement, I ask you to please refrain from wasting yours and my time.
Should I just give up and stay Mormon? I am so frustrated right now. There are a lot of things I believe are true regarding the Mormon faith. I believe in the preexistence, I believe the Book of Mormon is a genuine historic work, I believe that Christ is the divine Son of God but not God Himself. I believe that only Satan and his angels and maybe a handful of other people are going to hell, but that for the rest of us (even people who never accepted God) there is some degree of heaven, or closeness to God. I do not believe in infant baptism. I believe that there can be modern prophets on the earth today. But there are a few things that really bother me about Mormon beliefs, like that they think they can be gods when they die, that men can be married to more than one woman in the afterlife, the ordinances in the temple endowment (and the fact that they are suspiciously very very similar to Masonic rituals, which many believe to be Satanic), the fact that they practiced polygamy, the fact that they believe black people are black because their ancestors sinned against God (yet they also claim that they believe that "We believe that men will be punished for their own sins" that's from the Articles of Faith. So how can they believe black people are black because of their ancestor's sins? And why were they not allowed the priesthood?) And I also don't believe that there HAS to be a prophet at ALL TIMES on the earth. And how it just goes successively to the oldest guy in the first presidency as soon as the president dies there HAS to be another one elected. Why? It also really bothers me that the covenants in the temple have so much to do with loyalty to the lds church rather than being Christlike or following the teachings of Christ. I also hate it how there is SO MUCH EMPHASIS on Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon and modern prophets and not nearly enough emphasis on the Bible as well and also on the life and teachings of Christ. Of course I think Joseph Smith was an honorable man and he died trying to defend this church and he should be respected for that, but I think Mormons take it too far; they pracitally idolize him the way they always talk about him, and it seems like they constantly have to restate that he is a "true prophet" There is so much about this church that I really feel is true and right, but so much I feel is so wrong. How can anyone feel so mixed up about a church? I feel torn. I feel like there is no other religion out there for me; I don't agree with any of them it seems like. The only thing I know for sure is that I believe in God and in Jesus Christ, that He is the divine Son of God (but not God) and that he died for my sins so that I can be with my Father again, and that He rose from the dead, and I do my best to follow His teachings. I am so confused and I'm getting really frustrated. I feel like there is no religion out there that I can really believe in. I'm getting ready to just give up and be a passive mindless Mormon and just live a lie. It makes me feel bad because I know there are a lot of Mormons who are truly happy and really believe it and they aren't "mindless", but I think I would be. This is really causing me to lose my mind. Should I just give up and stay Mormon?
